THE STORY OF BITES The tale of two dishes Welcome to Kandy By Sri Lankan Bites, a vibrant and exciting restaurant that has captured the hearts and taste buds of Sydney-siders since its inception almost 3 years ago in 2021, amidst the pandemic. Our journey started with the youthful memories of eating street food on the beaches and streets of Sri Lanka, which inspired us to bring the best of Sri Lankan cuisine to Sydney. Two guys with a whole lot of passion, laughter, and a profound love of Sri Lankan food, (we had no idea how to run a restaurant). However we were blessed with a faithful, dedicated, professional, and fun crew who gave everything to make Sri Lankan cuisine known, engaging, fun, and capture the culinary history of Sri Lanka. Being a trade route of the Silk Roads with a cosmopolitan history of thousands of years, the story of the island was hidden inside our dishes, and we wanted to share it with the world. Our initial beginnings at Surry Hills, Sydney, saw us quickly becoming a popular destination for lovers of Sri Lankan food. Our customers became part of the Kandy family and friends, and their support led us to our bigger and better place in Glebe. We now continue to serve Sri Lankans and Sydney-siders with a spirit of adventure, capturing all the cultures of Sri Lanka and giving a new dimension to Asian food in Sydney.
